or KERA, said this week that the publicv broadcasting outlet has acquiredthe non-commerciapl radio license for 91.7 FM. The not-for-profit Dallass radio and television station provider coversz thegreater Dallas-Fort Worth area. Under KERA’ umbrella, 91.7 FM will switch to a public radi o music format with the content catering to adulte who are in search of diverswe music in the areasof folk, world music, alternative, indie rock and country. “This acquisition allows KERA to significantly advance its missionj and strategic direction by increasing publiv media services for the peopld ofNorth Texas,” said Mary Anne KERA’s president & CEO.
“The new stationb will be a public radio music format programmed with the Northh Texas audiencein mind. It will be a terrificf complementto KERA’s news and information station 90.1 FM and a substantial addition to KERA’s overall multimedia servicezs for the public.” The station’zs new programming will begin in the fall.
